It is especially crucial with remote employment because employees may feel their effort isn't getting noticed.
However, there is one caveat. To be successful, the acknowledgment must be done correctly, and there is no one-size-fits-all strategy. Nevertheless, here are some tips to ensure that how you acknowledge colleagues at work genuinely resonates:

Be genuine
Employees can detect insincere recognition from a long distance, regardless of whether it is necessary for someone, over Zoom or by email. A generic email which says little more often than 'thanks for doing a fantastic job!' or is just a template where a manager puts in someone's name is an example of disingenuous acknowledgment. These statements, while well-intended, often fall flat and can cause more harm than good. Insincere acknowledgment might make employees feel even less recognized and valued.
Recognize workers the way they want to be honored.
It is not only about providing recognition but also about how it gets offered. What works for one individual might not work for the next. Show potential workers that businesses genuinely care by personalizing their recognition to how they like to be honored. It's a tiny gesture, yet it has great effects.
Consider an employee's working style and what inspires them when determining the best manner to acknowledge them. While showy public acknowledgment may work for an individual who is more gregarious and constantly gets seen conversing with their colleagues, it may be too much for a quieter person who wants to stay to themselves. When in doubt, ask employees how they feel about appreciation during a one-on-one conversation.
Recognize not just accomplishments but also attempts.
Employees who go above and beyond to help a project finish on schedule or who consistently volunteer to take on stretch tasks deserve to get recognized for their hard work and devotion to the job. It's the most beneficial feedback since it motivates the employee to keep doing what they're doing. Without acknowledgment, individuals may get dissatisfied that their efforts are going undetected and, as a result, quit taking on more work or going the extra mile on a project. Worse, it may force them to look for a new job.
