Remote work is and will remain an important component of Velocity's employee value proposition.
Fremont, CA: In the retail, hospitality, healthcare, and entertainment industries, Velocity provide customized IT managed services such as IT support, network management, voice and data connectivity, multinational data networking, on-site repairs and service, field project rollouts and implementations, free-to-guest TV and Wi-Fi solutions, digital signage and DOOH media solutions, and more.
Velocity, a Managed Services Company providing IT managed services through distributed systems, data and voice connectivity, digital media displays, and advertising networks will keep allowing its employees to work from home as part of its prolonged employer of choice strategy, excluding essential workers involved in repair and supply chain operations.
"As we continue to evolve our strategy around being an employer of choice, it was obvious that we could either fight against this post-covid remote work movement by bringing employees back in the office or embrace and seek to thrive in it. Remote work is now part of who we are, not something we do in response to the pandemic. We have an amazing group of talented people at Velocity. Why would we push them out the door to work somewhere else? We want to retain our current talent and provide them with flexibility, and we do that by letting them work from home," said Mark Walker, President, and COO of Velocity.
Velocity issued this remark to its staff just days before a recent New York Times report stated that some organizations still attempt to maintain the regularity of working in an office pre-pandemic. According to these groups, returning to the workplace is crucial to preserving company culture. Nonetheless, employees have indicated a desire to maintain the flexibility provided by remote work as their lives and priorities have changed.
Remote work is and will remain an important component of Velocity's employee value proposition. Such sustained orientation will include modifications to the company's existing strategies, such as shifting from a short-term to a long-term strategy. To accommodate this hybrid remote/on-site workforce, the business will consolidate the campus offices into a new 100,000-square-foot structure close to the airport around 11300 Crosswinds Drive in Toledo, Ohio. This will enable its on-site teams to work together in the same building, promoting a One Team culture.
Velocity had a modest number of remote workers during the outset of the pandemic. However, as a young and expanding company, its leadership team saw the need for some cultural reforms in order to continue growing. The unexpected arrival of Covid-19 hastened this process, pushing Velocity to rapidly transform its culture and technology in ways that exceeded its original expectations. As a result, velocity moved 90 percent of their workers to remote work in a span of weeks in 2020.
