FREMONT, CA: Recent global HR capabilities data evaluation revealed that top companies have significantly deeper HR skills in crucial areas. HR teams assessed their familiarity level and experience in more than 80 different functional domains. It included knowledge and experience in all the major HR disciplines, recruiting, and talent management.
The analysis looked at respondents' profiles such as tenure, job level, experience type, industry, size, and employer’s growth rate. The results showed that HR teams in fast-growing and rapidly progressing companies have significantly higher capabilities in specific areas.
Furthermore, high-growth businesses have HR teams that can collaborate with senior leaders, coach managers, and executives, and have a profound organisational understanding. This also means they are closer to businesses and have credibility and experience in the industry. Such high-performing firms have a well-defined HR operating system, robust corporate learning and learning technology skills, and good performance consultants. These skills are key for growth as these enterprises hire, expand their offerings, and rapidly shift people to new positions.
Recruiting skills, however, are not important in the ranking capabilities as recruiting alone does not contribute to a company’s growth. Rather, they advance through development, mobility, retention, and strategic job design. Recruiting skills are slightly higher in fast-growing companies, but not significantly. This indicates that growing a large business purely encompasses strategic skills development, understanding organisational issues, working closely with senior leaders, and assisting operations. Working with senior leadership, career growth, leadership training, and building leaders are the HR skill clusters most strongly associated with advancements. Educating, developing, and aligning HR teams is the most powerful tool to grow a company.
Advancing HR teams can be accomplished in various ways, such as rewarding them for their performance. Following such methods creates development opportunities, formal career programs, job rotation, and strategic capability areas for HR. Companies should remember that HR professionals operate in a complex and dynamic sector. Along with their teams, they must excel at hiring, assessment, performance management, coaching, and a myriad of technical disciplines in training, rewards, culture, and technology. As HR people cannot be experts in everything, organisations need HR professionals to develop full-stack skills. Therefore, companies should invest in the professional capabilities of their organisations and the whole team.
As stated earlier, HR professionals are an integral part of a company's success as they play a key role in developing, reinforcing, and even changing the culture of an organisation. With this transformative era highly driven by technological advancements, HR leaders should be provided with appropriate learning and development techniques to keep updated and contribute their potential to a company's growth.
