The positive impacts that engagement in physical activity can have on employee health, performance and productivity are profound. Modern workplaces demand benefit programs that not only support employee wellbeing on paper, but actually encourage staff members to participate.

Traditional corporate gym memberships are no longer sufficient. While they may work for some, the typical engagement within a workforce rarely gets above 3-4 percent. Consider this: the largest single gym chain in the UK only has c.350 venues (none of which allow you to go swimming) out of an available market of over 7,000 locations. The fragmented nature of this market means that companies will never be able to support flexible, modern and diverse workforces in accessing the facilities that they all want at a price they are willing to pay.

The key to driving employee engagement lies in offering flexible access to a full variety of locations, activities and price points.

Hussle fulfils these requirements by making it incredibly easy for employees to access the venues that they want, close to home, work, and when traveling. They surmount many of the friction points associated with employee engagement in traditional fitness benefits, by offering venues in 94 percent of UK postcode areas at prices employees are happy to pay. All with just one simple pass.

“We make it incredibly easy for employees to access the venues they want, on terms they are happy with, and in locations that are convenient wherever they may be.” says Matt Hatcher, Business Development Director.

The employer-subsidised plan offers employees up to a 70 percent reduction on standard monthly fees, making it a fantastic financial wellbeing incentive, too. Employers also benefit from pricing structures that are based on the number of employees who actually take part.

Optimising Workforce Engagement, the Hussle Way

While some companies opt for ‘one-size-fits-all’ benefits platforms, Hussle is a specialist fitness provider of the best in its class, supporting a stronger return on investment than what might commonly be referred to as a ‘box ticking’ solution.

Key to Hussle’s success is that they keep things simple. There are no confusing tiering systems, excessive bolt-ons or complicated credit systems. Instead they focus only on what matters most to employees: accessing amazing fitness venues, in an affordable way.

Hussle’s custom solution offers versatility and increased employee engagement levels that can reach 20 percent and above. One example is Huntsman—a renowned British tailoring house—who reported that their staff felt stressed and burned out due to the physical nature of the job. On-site Pilates classes were offered to help them stay healthy and flexible but appealed to less than 10 per cent of workers.

By partnering with Hussle, Huntsman provided multiple options to their employees, resulting in 25 per cent of the workforce participating within the first month. The variety of activities available and flexibility ensured the client could support a complete range of fitness preferences, including
weight training, swimming and time in the sauna.

In another instance, Cask Hog Whisky Club, a whisky seller operating a hybrid work model, wanted to benefit their employees from fitness activities both close to home and near the office. Hussle stepped in and provided a membership package that was very well received. New and existing employees were excited by the flexibility that Hussle could bring.

Customer Experience Driven by Simplicity

Hussle’s user-friendliness makes its offerings an investment for employers that ensures significant payback. The same level of simplicity is demonstrated during the onboarding process. Customers simply request a quote via their website, and a fitness benefits expert then reaches out to understand their requirements, provide a demonstration and present a customised package.

Employees can leverage the services of partnering gyms within a few weeks after their senior management team approves the program. Hussle’s marketing team also assists employers in promoting the benefits to their workers. They go the extra mile by assigning a dedicated account manager who regularly interacts with employers to drive participation.
