Without face-to-face interactions, leaders have been finding a difficult time trying to find the right balance between providing an adequate amount of support and being seen as micromanaging.
Fremont, CA: The COVID-19 pandemic has put significant stress and demand on leaders. Handling teams and remotely managing productivity during this tumultuous time is something most leaders are not prepared for. Here are three challenges faced by corporate leaders:
Rapidly Changing Environment
The pandemic has disrupted every industry. As changes come from various places, be it government, health authorities, workplace, and community, leaders need to handle these disruptions to ensure that their team is supported, versatile and updated with new technologies and innovations. Reskilling and upskilling employees can help accommodate to the transforming environment.
Workload and Efficiency
Managers can identify which members are suited for different tasks when the workload is shared among a team. However, distributing workload has become an issue for leaders. Managers have to ask individuals about task completion estimates, handle the expectations are a leader, and revisit it again with the employee to coordinate when someone needs help or support.
Isolation and Engagement
Without face-to-face interactions, leaders have been finding a difficult time trying to find the right balance between providing an adequate amount of support and being seen as micromanaging. Formally asking team members to exchange ideas by grouping or pairing them will help take it to another level, making sure that every employee is involved in it. This will help pay dividends for individuals and for the company as better results will be accomplished.
