On a technologically unequal playing field, elderly people compete for a small vaccine supply.
When more states expand the requirements for receiving the vaccine, the number of people who are qualified and want to apply for it is growing. Millions of Americans of all ages are unable to correctly register for vaccine appointments due to a lack of access to and ability to operate technology.

There was no federal coordination when the vaccine rollout started, resulting in a confusing tangle of various rules and structures that differed by state and county. Although the demand is promising, the obstacles that people face have been overwhelming.
