OCTOBER 2021HR TECH OUTLOOK6This time of year is traditionally filled with conversations about next year's strategic plans, individual goals and budgets. The COVID-19 pandemic makes this already challenging process even harder because we don't have a clear sense of what's going to happen next. No one would dispute that 2020 upended business models, priorities and plans as organizations were forced to navigate a rapidly changing environment. HR was at the forefront of initiatives to respond to a wide range of internal and external transformative trends, from employee well-being to new workforce models and social justice.Gartner's 2020 ReimagineHR Employee Survey found that employers that support employees with their life experience see a tangible increase (more than 20 percent) in the number of employees reporting better mental and physical health. Supportive employers can also realize a 21 percent increase in the number of high performers compared to organizations that don't provide that same degree of support to their employees. In 2021, employer support for the entire employee life experience will become table stakes in employee benefits. The pandemic has not changed the experience economy we live in. Still, customer experience and employee experience rule the product and service worlds. Even when the companies were struck with the COVID-19 wave, exemplary customer service and an engaged distributed workforce had been their priorities. The significance of employee engagement has been realized by companies, especially with the influx of digital-savvy millennial employees.Further, COVID-19 has given a golden opportunity for employees to up skill and re-skill themselves. The commuting time has been spared due to remote working, and there are many online courses to learn a new skill. Companies will analyze the data on the performance reports of employees and come up with a personalized development plan for each employee. The learning time taken by each employee was already increasing even before COVID-19. If the companies provide the right platforms for employees to learn a skill, it would have a great positive impact on the workforce.Let us know your thoughts.Towards a Better Talent Management FutureHanna WilsonManaging Editoreditor@hrtechoutlook.comManaging EditorHanna WilsonEditorial StaffSalesAaron PierceAva Garcia Philo VazRussell ThomasVisualizersChris LynnCalvin JamesEditor's NoteShirley Jacobsshirley@hrtechoutlook.comCopyright © 2021 ValleyMedia, Inc.
