Additionally, the rules around how to navigate the impact of COVID-19, including vaccination requirements, continue to evolve. Given the developments over the last year, now is the time to focus on the changes in the employment landscape that could affect your workplace in 2022.Employee well-being is no longer an employee benefit. Rather, well-being now is an employer's opportunity to support employees in all aspects of their personal and work lives. As Figure 1 shows, employee well-being has expanded beyond physical well-being to include emotional, financial, social, and career wellness.In the early days of Covid-19, organizations thought they were dealing with a health care issue, then a real estate issue. Soon it became clear this was a complex business and people issue and the CHRO was pivotal to its response. The list of issues facing CHROs range from leading with empathy to understand what is important to various segments of workers, proposing flexible work options, creating healthy workplace environments to support employee well-being, and developing a fair and equitable workplace for all employees (regardless of where they work).Despite the well-laid plans of HR professionals, there will always be changes to the laws regulating employment around the world that threaten to wreak havoc on compliance. Compliance issues are unlikely to disappear--a continually shifting global political environment will see to that. The volume of complex HR and employment legislation is only likely to increase in the future.
