JULY 2019HR TECH OUTLOOK6For companies to undergo change, it is the people who must first change. As such, change management is focused on the employees who are required to learn new skills, adapt to new work processes, and engage in new activities during a company transformation. Over the last few decades, change management has earned significant credibility. Senior leadership has begun to understand its role in change, and as a result, is showing a stronger desire to be actively involved. With such support, organizations are able to implement change initiatives in a more effective manner. However, managing multiple, complex, and overlapping change initiatives is a cumbersome process, hence organizations are building an internal change management capability. Organizations are also selecting a formal change management methodology that ensures structure and consistency, thus allowing easier adoption. This approach has gained popularity as it provides a common language and toolset for ensuring that the application of change management is accessible to the entire organization on every level and to each individual. The increase in change management has resulted in a rise in the number of change management professionals as well. As a result dedicated groups focused solely on change management work are becoming common in organizations. There are several assessment and planning tools in the market to facilitate change management. These tools are designed to generate visualizations of change plans and map its progress to identify areas that are experiencing resistance. Thus, leadership is able to have a clear view of the change efforts taking place in an organization, and in turn, draw up strategies to further bolster the process. Change management solutions help smoothen the transition and reduce any confusion or uncertainty.
